What to write on a birth announcement
The essentials fit in a few lines: your baby’s name, date of birth (and the time, if you like that detail), weight and length, and a word from the parents. Write weight and length the way people around you say them: 7 lb 8 oz and 20 in, or 3.4 kg and 51 cm.
Sharing without saying too much
On a public social network, the first name and date are often enough. The last name, exact time and place of birth can stay on the card you send privately to family and friends.
Printing it
The card is 5 × 7 in (13 × 18 cm) at 300 dots per inch: it prints sharply on photo paper, at home or at a pharmacy photo counter. In the Maliah app, the Shop also prints announcement and thank-you cards with your photos, delivered to your door.
When to send it
There is no rule: many parents send it in the first weeks, others wait for a good photo. A thank-you card can follow for the gifts you received.
