Contraction timer

Tap the big button when each contraction starts, then when it ends: the tool logs the duration, the interval and the averages, ready to show your health professional or birth centre.

Time my contractions

Tap when the contraction starts, then when it ends.

0:00

Ready when you are.

This timer doesn’t tell you when to go: follow the instructions from your health professional or birth centre. If you’re unsure, call Info-Santé 811. In an emergency, dial 911.

Free, no sign-up. What you enter stays in your browser: nothing is sent to Maliah.

How to time a contraction

Tap “Contraction starts” when it begins, then “Contraction ends” when it’s over. The timer records the start time and the duration of each one. The button is large and sits in the middle of the screen so you can use it with one hand, or hand the phone to your partner.

Duration and interval: what the tool measures

Tapped by mistake? “Remove last” deletes only the most recent contraction. “Clear all” asks you to confirm before emptying the list.

When to go: follow your instructions

This timer doesn’t tell you when to go. Near the end of pregnancy, your doctor or midwife tells you when to head to your birth centre or hospital: it depends on things like distance, previous births and your health. Write those instructions down ahead of time, for example in your birth plan. Some situations mean leaving right away; your health professional will have explained them.

If you’re unsure, call your birth centre or Info-Santé 811. In an emergency, dial 911.

Your data stays on your device

The list is kept in your browser, on this device only, so nothing is lost if the page reloads. Nothing is sent to Maliah.

Timing together with Maliah

In the Maliah app, the contraction timer is part of the pregnancy profile: your partner sees each contraction live on their phone, past sessions stay in the history, and your birth plan with your instructions is one tap away. You can also log everything by voice, without letting go of anyone’s hand.

No. Follow the instructions from your doctor, midwife or birth centre. If you’re unsure, call Info-Santé 811; in an emergency, dial 911.

What do the averages mean?

The average duration and average interval of the last 3 contractions, then of every contraction that started in the last hour.

I tapped the wrong button: what now?

Tap “Remove last” to delete only the most recent contraction, then carry on.

Are my contractions sent anywhere?

No. They stay in your browser, on this device. Nothing is sent to Maliah.
